Klassfesten

Klassfesten

av Måns Herngren & Hannes Holm

With their fourth feature film, nostalgia has captured the minds of double-act Mans Herngren and Hannes Holm, directors of the critically acclaimed movies En pa miljonen (One in a Million, 1995), Adam & Eva (1997) and Det blir aid rig som man tankt sig (Shit Happens, 2000). But the rear-view mirror gives a reflection filled with blackened clarity. Magnus (Björn Kjellman), is a 35-year-old insurance agent, with the typical Swedish middle-class future staked out - the wife, the kids, the dog and the Volvo are already in place. But then, an invitation to a reunion with his old junior high school class arrives in the mailbox, and Magnus is thrown back to the school yard order of precedence and a love he never managed to catch. Recollecting how he stood at the subway station watching the girl and the train towards the wild life leave, he comes to realize that now might be the time to start walking down that road which he never had the courage to take 20 years ago. Klassfesten is directors Herngren and Holm's best film so far, once again proving their capacity of capturing the feelings of the typical Swedish middle-aged mind. ULF ANDERSSON-GREEK
