On a secluded beach somewhere on the coast of Ireland people are trying to make time pass. Girls work on their tan, women are doing water-gymnastics and boys are playing around. In this short film Margaret Corkery shows, in a bright green-blue colour scale, how a boring windy day can be spent. While it is beautifully shot and composed, the film still has disturbing undertones, enhanced by the dramatic music of Dead Can Dance. Killing the afternoon has already received acclaim on festivals throughout the world, and was recently nominated for a Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival. But not only nominations surrounds this spectacular short film, also the first prize at Cinema Jove and the Jury Prize at the Aye Aye Festival.PETTER CAVALLIN
