Gil Rossellini – Isabella’s brother and Roberto’s son – was the producer of Puteri Gunung Ledang, the Malayan epic that was screened at last year’s Stockholm International Film Festival. During his flight to Stockholm, he began to feel queezy, and when the plane landed and the festival was to pick him up, he was so ill that he ended up in a coma for three weeks at Karolinska sjukhuset. After over twenty operations, he was flown to Switzerland to undergo continuous treatment. But being the film producer that he is, Gil Rossellini couldn’t help but film the entire painstaking ordeal with a handheld camera, using his sister as interpreter, thus creating Kill Gil Vol. 1. Now the film comes full circle when it returns to The Stockholm International Film Festival to be screened where it all began one year ago. Kill Gil Vol. 1 is an intense reminder of the preciousness of life. JACK LEVANDER
