Kika is, according to Almodovar himself, his most unpredictable work. The story starts as a colorful and easy going comedy, but gradually turns into a bloody cocktail of absurd humor exploding into frenzy, crime and revenge. During which an unscrupulous TV-journalist presents the brutal violence into peoples' living rooms wearing an obscene, sensational and futuristic creation by Gaultier. What the Critics Said:''Kika rides on individual scenes and imaginative role interpretations. Almodovar feigns superficiality. He surfs easily and talented on the surface.'' (Jan Eklund in Dagens Nyheter) ''His pungent criticism of the mass medias' unscrupulous methods is delivered by Victoria Abril, as the ruthless TV star in a Jean-Paul Gaultier creation. The characters and surroundings are colorful, as usual (just look at the inside of Kika's apartment), and the humor is completely absurd.'' (Lars Lindström in Expressen) ''Even in the new film, Kika, you find garishness, vulgarity, reality twisted to the point of insanity, and firey colors; all of this is a part of his film style. But this time there is also a sense of direction and meaning.'' (Elisabeth Sörenson in Svenska Dagbladet)
