Bagi is a young nomad who lives a peaceful life with his family in the serene Mongolian steppes. He has an uncanny gift and possesses magical forces, which he tries to deny. When a shamaness discovers it, she tries to convince him that his destiny is to become a shaman, but Bagi refuses to listen. One day a convoy of army trucks arrives, telling the nomads that there is a mysterious plague spreading amongst the cattle. The family is forced to kill all their animals, leave the steppes and move into the industrial city. Belgian Peter Brosens (Mongolia Trilogy) and American Jessica Woodworth (The Virgin Diaries) infuse script with political reference. Their first feature collaboration is a feast for the eye in terms of phenomenal visual beauty. To follow Bagi’s spiritual journey is like pure magic in itself. Khadak is a cry of alarm for a land, Mongolia, forced into modernity. PETRA KJELLSTRÖM
