The Slingshot

The Slingshot

av Åke Sandgren

Stockholm, Vasastaden in the 1920's. Roland lives with his Jewish Russian mother, his socialist father and his older brother Bertil. Bertil utilizes Roland as a punching bag when he practices and most of the time Roland's nose is covered in pieces of piaster. At school the teachers are mean and he gets beaten up there as well. But that doesn't bother our ingenious hero too much. Roland has a bigger problem raising money towards a bike. Then he gets the idea to make slingshots out of those little protective devices hidden beneath the counter in his mother's store. Based on Roland Schütt's bestselling autobiography by the same name.

''A movie jumping with creativity, warmth and humor.''
