In Memory of my Father

In Memory of my Father

av Christopher Jaymes

A famous Hollywood producer is about to die and hires his son Chris to document his dying process. As the father passes on and the wake commences it becomes obvious that none of his children is handling the situation very well. Unable to deal with their grief in a grown-up way they all focus on themselves in an orgy of self-pity, which as sad as it might seem, turns in to a hilarious scenario. The film is a classical DIY-production with Christopher Jaymes as author, director and producer creating a movie that portrays a dysfunctional Los Angeles family where the viewer who should be somewhat detached from the characters still can’t help feeling a bit concerned for the sons and the people around them. The script is particularly talkative, in fact no one ever shuts up and the constant blabbering only fuels the movies rendering of confusion and preoccupation of the characters own selves. Jeremy Sisto from Six Feet Under gives a knock out performance in this movie that recently won the Cinevegas’ grand jury price and the marvellous score by Daniel Teper and Belle & Sebastian really makes this film a refreshing indie discovery.
