In this beautiful Romeo and Juliet-like film Jan, a 25-year old Norwegian musican falls deeply in love with the pakistanian girl Yasmin. As the classic story goes Yasmin’s parents has promised Yasmin to her cousin who will shortly arrive from Pakistan in order to marry her. To get Yasmin back Jan realises that he have to get on her parents good side. Under cover of writing a thesis on immigrant stores, Jan gets a job in the store of Allahditta Jasmin's father where he struggles to get his acceptance.Director Khalid Hussain has with Import-Export made an unusually warm-hearted and generous film which with humour investigates Pakistani-Norwegian cultural differences, and problems related to them.One of them beeing the one beetwen Jan and Yasmin and the difficulty for Jan to get her parents acceptens of their love.Tough striking simaleratis with ”Jalla Jalla” the swedish movie by director Josef Fares from 2000 Import-Export manages to stand on it's own feet and question remains, will he get her?MATEO OLIVA
