Welcome to the blood soaked halls of Yakuza Mansion, where lurks Ichi, a proverbial Frankenstein's monster torn between sexual violence and confused innocence. When the yakuza boss Anjo disappears, his yakuza soldiers suspect the mansion's underworld low-life tenants. The search is led by Kakihara, a garish peroxided S/M jester with body piercings and a gaping slash extending his mouthline. Jijii, an older gangster, has clues to Anjo's disappearance, but vanishes into the corridors of the mansion...
Miike has gathered Japan's hottest names in Ichi - the Killer. We see, among others, Shynia Tsukamoto, who has directed Tetsuo and Tokyo Fist and Sabu, director of Monday and Unlucky Monkey. Sensitive people are warned, because the bloody nightmare images in this moral tale go straight to your gut. Miike is not solely responsible for this bloodbath, though, as the film is based on the very successful comic strip by Hideo Yamamoto.
