Here Was The Anthem

Two wealthy youngsters, Alain and Ricardo, drive through
Mexico City on a quest for marijuana. Unfortunately, a group of
corrupt police offi cers gets hold of them with the acquired drugs.
Managing to bribe the offi cers, Alain is released with the aim to
gather a large sum of money while Ricardo is held hostage under
the threat of execution.
Based on director Sergio Umansky’s own experiences ten
years ago, it is the story itself of Here Was the Anthem which is
the center point, refl ecting the issue of the power structures in
the Mexican society today. The fi lm is Umansky’s fi rst major
independent effort and is delivered with an unexpected change
of events.
