This is the story of Hansel - a boy from East Berlin who, post a botched sex-change operation that leaves him/her with an ''angry inch'', becomes Hedwig - a wigged glamrock singer. Struggling for recognition, reconciliation and fame in the light of tragedy, Hedwig makes her way through the world, with the help of wicked humor, explosive imagination and a soundtrack of original rock n'roll.
Seemingly superficial, Hedwig evolves with prominence in the field of off-Brodway adaptations and character-depth cinema along with animation sequences by Emily Hubley. In collaboration with American producer Christine Vachon, John Cameron Mitchell has crafted a brilliantly conceived musical, and is sparkling in the lead performance as Hansel/Hedwig.
