When Gloria Swenson knocks on the door of one of her neighbours, her life takes a dramatic turn. The father in the neighbour fami Iy has fallen out with a couple of gangster and is expecting them within any minute, and he is armed with a loaded gun. Reluctantly Gloria agrees to take the youngest son of the family, Phil, in to her protection. Just as they have safely gotten into Gloria's apartment, Phil's entire family is killed. Gloria finds it difficult to come to terms with the thought of havi ng to take care of a child. The situation is made even worse by the fact that the kid has got the thing that the gangsters were looking for.

I donft know how we all lived through it.
It was about 105 degrees at the time but we did it and, lord, it was fun.
