If you’ve ever been to a music festival you are most likely to enjoy Julien Temple’s new rockumentary about Glastonbury, the largest music festival in England. It is an intensive slide view consisting of past footage as well as shots from more recent festivals, imaginatively edited to convey the festival atmosphere. Artists like Björk, Joe Strummer, Bob Marley and David Bowie perform in an incoherent mixture. But Temple does not only focus on the artists. He portraits the audience, the organizers as well as the driving force and founder Michael Eavis, who muddles about, trying to mediate between festival visitors and the locals. Dirt, nudity and mischief are constantly recurring elements and important components. This is a movie with an in-your-face approach that will leave you starving for your next live music experience.
