Gimme Shelter

December 1969, a few months after Woodstock. The Rolling Stones, together with Jefferson Airplane, plans to give a giant free concert at Altamont Freeway outside San Fransisco. Members of Hell's Angels are hired to be in charge of security - a big mistake. The bearded motorcyclists beat the crap out of the loving and understanding hippie-audience, killing at least one person in a type of rock concert fury until then rarely seen.

Gimme Shelter is a classic documentary capturing, in an uncut version, the spirit of rock 'n'roll and the hedonism of its followers, and at the same time painting a brutal portrait of the decade's innocence lost. A violent proof that the 60's ended right here.
