Stockholm Film Festival

Young George lives in an industrial town in a Southern US state. He spends his days killing time by walking around the railway tracks and the factories with his friends. But things change when a tragic accident occurs; one of George's friends dies during an innocent game. Suddenly these young people are faced with a situation they cannot handle. Green treats the American heroic ideals with irony. A USA where 4th of July parades are meant to infuse hope in young people, but where you lack the possibility to make your dreams come true. The almost meditative storytelling at times reminds of Terrence Malick and pendulates between documentary and fiction. The actors are all amateurs and were basically discovered on the street, which gives their characters an immediate authenticity.
