Fresa y chocolate is a provocative film which hits hard at Castro's regime. It is challenging while it remains a comedy about sexual minorities. It is a forceful story of love and tolerance in a time when people are torn between old dogmas and new morality.
Prejudices, the need to communicate and the difficulties in life, lead us to the conclusion that solidarity among people is one of Man's greatest inventions.
The film was awarded the prize for best film at the Havana Film Festival in 1992 and it is based on the award-winning novel ''El bosque, el logo y el hombre nuevo'' by Senel Paz.
