Four short stories that each offers a small slice of a Sweden seldom portrayed in contemporary film. In 98.2 Mhz - drömmar i söder, Jan Troell tells, with poetic realism, the story about a group of people in a music organisation in the south of Sweden, who are linked through their radios. Stefan Jarl confronts us with unsentimental images from the life of some homeless people in De hemlosa. Susanna Edward's Risk is on line with a gambling nation filled with day traders, horse racing fanatics and slot machines. Nina Hedenius continues in Christian - vårterminen 1999 to investigate life far away from the bright lights of the entertainment district and the inner city. The strength of her portrait of a young student in the Swedish countryside is that it is completely moulded by the mood of its protagonist.
