Floundering

The year is 1992 and the place Los Angeles after the Rodney King riots. John Boyz is no longer able to find a meaning in life. He is unemployed and rootless, suffering from insomnia and experiencing anxiety and confusion. To pass the time he watches videos of the riots and keeps a detailed record of the events. John's girlfriend suspect that his peculiar behaviour is due to an existential crisis.

When John fails to look after himself his problems begin to build up: his bank account is frozen, he is refused money and the tax man is after him. When things look particularly bad he discovers that his girlfriend is unfaithful. He is no longer able to trust anyone.

All these problems cause the border between reality and dream to blur. His life becomes a horror story and he is beginning to hallucinate. The state of his health deteriorates further because of drugs. John is forced to live through the hell of absolute hopelessness before he can save what is left of his life.
