Byron Gruman collides with a train, his wife dies. Tormented by guilt and despair he seeks the liberating silence of loneliness. One year later he picks up a hitchhiker, Elvis (Harvey Keitel) heading for Graceland. During the trip Elvis does his best to convince Byron that he really is ''The King'', even though he does not look at all like him. When Elvis introduces Byron to Ashley (Bridget Fonda), a
Marilyn Monroe look-alike, it seems like his will to live is returning. Now begins the real journey of Byron Gruman.
Finding Graceland is a film about the importance of having something more essential to believe in. ''Belief can move mountains'', someone has said and this is something that David Winkler has taken to heart. Finding Gracelandtakes the audience on an amazing journey, that also is a tale of love, friendship and hope.
As far as trivia goes, it is quite amusing that Winkler's father, Irwin Winkler, produced an Elvis-film, Double Trouble. In this as well destiny shows its head. For the diehard Elvis-fans there are quite a few funny ''hints''. And above all, a lot of music - naturally a lot featuring Elvis.
