As the 20th century has come to an end, so have the lives of three of the original Ramones. Today, after Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny all passing away in recent years, only Tommy is still around. This documentary was the legendary punk band's last chance to tell their story in their own words. Interviews and exclusive archive footage depict a group of friends who grew to hate each other as the years passed, but still went on touring in a small mini-van just to make a living.
Watch the band argue on stage over which song to play during an early gig, meet the right-wing conservative John Uohnny}, the tal-
ented songwriter and incorrigible drug addict Douglas (Dee Dee), and the fragile ObsessiveCompulsive Disorder-tormented Jeff Uoey}, as they give new meaning to the classic Ramones lyrics: ''1 don't wanna walk around with you, so why you wanna walk around with me?''.
With their first documentary, directors Michael Gramaglia and Jim Fields have made an important contribution to the short list of great rockumentaries and to the history of pop culture.
