Worker Nick Longhetti tries to handle his wife Mables psychological instability. He does everything he can to make her peculiar behavior seem normal. But when her ways start having an affect on their children, he has her put into an institution.
Comments from Gena Rowlands: I think A Woman Under the Influence means the most to me ... it's my favorite thing I have done. It was a glorious screenplay and being allowed to delve into the heart of a family so deeply was something very moving.
