The year is 1963 and 13-year-old Hanna goes to the cinema to see Jean-Luc Godards It's My Life (Vivre sa vie). Hanna is fascinated by the character Nana, who reminds her of one her teachers that she would like to get to know better. During a trying year she comes closer to understanding the message of the sensuous and bewitching Nana. She doesn't get along with her parents, who themselves are unhappy. Her father has trouble showing emotions and the young mother is exhausted and brittle. Still, Hanna has her older brother and her only friend, Laura. She's coming of age which she finds difficult to deal with, and she's trying to grow up as best she can. The film has received very positive reactions, and Karine Vanasse, who plays Hanna, is very convincing.
