Edmond

Edmond

av Stuart Gordon

Wearied New York-businessman Edmond Burke has had enough of his meaningless existence. One day he simply announces to his wife that he’s leaving and not coming back. This is the starting point of Edmonds destructive existential journey towards self-discovery in the back alleys of New York. Humiliation, sex, violence, murder and truth. And a brilliant William H Macy as the deeply conflicted Edmond. Other great parts includes Julia Stiles as an alluring waitress and Joe Mantegna as a mystic stranger inspiring Edmond on his quest. Also see Mena Suvari pop up as one of the many sinful characters in this movie. Prepare for raw emotion, provocative images and an eye-opening downward spiral. Stuart Gordons screen adaptation of David Mamet’s 1982 one-act play is a dark, wild and violent story of masculine catharsis in The Big Apple. A theme that can be recognized from movies such as Taxi Driver and Fight Club. And is there not a small dose of American Psycho in there as well? Edmond was nominated for the Grand Special Prize at The Deauville Film Festival 2005. ERIK AUGUSTIN PALM
