Daddy Blue is a film about liberation from your parents. The main character is LP, a kid who celebrates his O-levels by stealing a sailing boat and take off on the Oslo fjord. He is accompanied by Line, a girl five years older who saves him from going aground. A love affair between the inexperienced LP and the less virginal Line starts to develop.
In comes ''daddy''. After LP made the mistake of sending a postcard to his family his father quickly figures out where he is and comes along in a hurry. He is not beyond throwing himself into the fjord dressed in nothing but underpants and socks, all to get into the boat.
That is the end of the romantic interlude. And worse, Line seems to be just as interested in ''daddy'' as in LP.
