Drømmen om Lollywood

Pakistani immigrant Shiraz Khan lives in Norway and works as a customs officer. At the same time, he dreams of becoming an actor in Lollywood, the Hollywood/Bollywood of Pakistan, where dancing and singing are essential actor qualities. In this Norwegian documentary we get to follow Shiraz on his way to Pakistan where the dreams are to come true. But there are obstacles along the way - in Shiraz' case twofold. First of all, the industry is in financial difficulty. While Shiraz is actually offered two jobs, they both mean that he will have to work for free. The second problem facing Shiraz as an actor is a personal matter - his double cultural identity. Even though Pakistan is his native country, the producers in Lollywood - as well as those in Norway only offer him parts where he is to play immigrants, which in mainstream cinema as well as in reality, often means stereotype subparts in the periphery of fiction.
