Donnie Darko

The year is 1988. 16-year-old Donnie is the ideal, all-American teenager, except for his strange visions and rabbit costumed, imaginary friend Frank. Then, he barely survives a freak accident, and with Frank telling him that he is destined for another, unique purpose, Donnie's life takes a new direction. Strange things begin to take place, but nothing at random. His whole world eventually becomes threatened and he is the only one who can affect the outcome.

Patrick Swayze makes a comeback as a new age guru and Drew Barrymore, who also produced, plays one of the parts. Richard Kelly's whimsical debut film is a delicious and interesting mix of genres including drama, thriller, teen, comedy.
