One day the French director Patrice Leconte, well-known for critically acclaimed features such as The Man On the Train and The Hairdresser's Husband, listens to a moving music piece by the not-so-well-known French classical composer Etienne Perruchon. A couple of months later, Leconte visits Cambodia for the very first time and becomes equally moved by the country, its people, nature and sincerity. He decides to merge the two experiences into a film. The result is not a documentary per se, it is rather an attempt by Leconte to show us his experience in South East Asia combined with
music that has its origin somewhere else. And yet the music of Perruchon and the wonderful and breathtaking images of the nature in the Mekong delta, street life in Pnom Penh and from the world famous temple site of Angkor become strangely intertwined and logical. The mix of east/west and old/new suddenly seems to make sense. Sit back in the salon, relax and let Leconte take you on a journey through one of the most vibrant and beautiful parts of the world. If you haven't been to Cambodia, you'll want to go after Dogora.
