Boy Doll

Boy Doll

av Hilda Hellwig

A young man remembers his childhood. It is winter, and a huge pine tree stands in fmnt of the single window, blocking the view from the family, who lives in poverty. The mother and the boy support the family through subcontract work for a toy manufacturer down in the valley. The family is inexorably tied together through wordless love and fear. The boy's imagination puts the family's livelihood at risk again and again. When
he makes a boy doll, out of subconscious defiance and rebellion, his father becomes furious and violent. The boy runs away from the home. Based on the short story Dukken by Martin Andersen Nexö.

''It is extraordinarily brave and very talented.''
