Something fishy is going on in the star-spangled Arden
family. Angela Arden, celebrity ex-pop superstar, is cheating
on her husband with gigolo Tony who also happens to be
getting it on with both the family’s daughter and son. Angela
gets rid of her much-hated husband but her daughter is not
going to let her get away with that. Through LSD-spiced coffee
and film noir epiphanies, terrible truths about the Arden
family history are uncovered.
With a large dose of humour, Die, Mommie, Die confronts
its own genre as well as acting stereotypes in film history.
Great appearences from the main cast, re-introducing
Beverly Hills 902 10-star Jason Priestley as well-hung
loverboy Tony. Scriptwriter Charles Busch also wrote and
acted in Psycho Beach Party, screened at the Stockholm
International Film Festival 2000 and appears as the butch
but glamourous Angela Arden. Mark Rucker makes his big
screen debut with this excellent parody of the drama queen
melodramas of the 50’s and 60’s.
