The last part of a documentary trilogy which began in 1968 with They Call Us Misfits and continued with A Respectable Life, 1979. In this fiim Stefan JaI'l sums up the past. He returns to the surviving Mods, Kenta and Eva, who move to Blekinge to start over. He calls on their children, Patrik and Carina, who with their background ought to be doomed from the start, although they seem to be doing alright. The social democratic society, the safety net, has treated these children well. They have turned into another materialistic generation, whose security is conformity and who believe that happiness equals money.
''With his trilogy about the Mods now finally completed with The Social Contract Stefan Jarl has created an unforgettable monument over a Swedish tragedy.''
