Den osynlige

Den osynlige

av Joel Bergvall & Simon Sandqvist

Oscar-nominated for the short Victor in 1999, Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist make their feature debut with Den osynlige. Gustaf Skarsgård gives a fine performance as the straight A-student Nicklas who is eagerly awaiti ng graduation. His dream of becoming a writer is clouded by his mother, who insists on him studying economics instead of enrolling at the London Writers Institute. One night on h is way home from a party, he is bad Iy beaten up by the school bully Anneli and her gang. They believe him to be dead and hide his body in the woods. When he wakes the next morning, everything has changed. He is invisible. Caught in the limbo between life and death he has to find the answers to his own disappearance before it's too late. Den osynlige is loosely based on a novel by Swedish author Mats Wahl, but whereas the novel focuses on a police investigation and is a sharp critique of society, the film puts the emphasis on mystery, and the existential issues of adolescence. Den osynlige is technically flawless and told with a narrative force, which makes it above all entertaining. The transition between a coming of age-movie and a ghost story is carried out admirably.
