The 20-year-old Mark Singer got tired of his life as a model and personal circumstances led him down to New York's homeless tunnel people. For two years he lived in the darkness underneath Penn Station and amongst dirt, rats, junkies, dogs, stench, stolen electricity and peculiar life stories he found his true friends. To be able to help his new-found friends towards a telerable life above ground, he decided to make a film about their everyday lives and leave any possible profit to them. He sold his furniture, emptied his credit cards and begged for film and a camera - which the shop assistant had to show him how to load several times. Today many of his tunnel-friends lead a good life above ground, whilst Mark himself, ironically enough, is homeless i once again because his apartment burnt down. His life is in a suitcase; he stays with his friends and has difficulties getting used to sleeping with a pillow.
