Cut is a slasher film in true Scream spirit with uncountable references to the genre, up to now relatively unexplored in the Australian filmmaking. The action is built around the filming of a horror movie. The film's creative energy transforms into a tangible reality. The director is killed and the production is postponed until a group of film students attempt to finish the production. The calamitous prophecies come true; when the camera rolls into action, heads also begin to roll. The film team is swiftly decimated by the masked killer's edge. The young and beautiful characters illustrate a traditionally bloody but uneven struggle against the brutal manifestation of evil. Noticeable in the casting are pop icons Kylie Minogue and Molly Ringwald. The part as ''the final girl'', the heroine that finally challenges the antagonist, is played by the young rising star Jessica Napier.
