Condoms

I n Marc Caro's contribution, Exercises de steele, the word cyber sex gets a whole new meaning, with girls (who of course are a big market for the condom manufacturers) satisfy their needs with machines. Lucile Hadzihalilovic's Good Boys Use Condoms is an erotic tale of a man who is taken care of by a set of beauties. Jaques Audiard shows us the world from the perspective of a horny office rat in Norme Francaise, and Cedric Klapisch gives us an almost classic porno movie exhibition with a rich wife Vs a chimney-sweep,
in Ramoneur de lilas.
These are four of the five short films that with the collective name Condoms has gotten a lot of attention at festivals around the world this year.
Even if one is jaded as a fi I m fan, the idea of some of Sweden's big directors going into the X-rated genre seems quite inconceivable. Add to that, the state paying most of the costs for the production ...
That is how it is with this project, just called Condoms. The French state and the public health department has, together with French film channel Canal+, produced these short pornofiIms with condom themes. These public announcement
films are designed to get the French people to start using condoms and lubricant, with gusto. No unsafe sex here.
Caro, Audiard, Klapisch and Hadzihalilovic is the quartet that have lived out their filthiest fantasies on the big screen, and they are pretty uninhibited.
It is a constant parade of condomwearing penises through these four films and they contain everything from naughty triplets to well used iron dildos, and loads of dirty thoughts and humor in between.
The films are made accordingto the separate styles of the different di rectors. In Marc Caro's film, for example, which is a 90 seconds long ''cyber-quickie'' one can find the grotesque themes that have, more or less, given color to all Caro-films. Patent leather weari ng women, electron ic music, steal constructions and so on.
The message is simple: Not without a condom. I am not goi ng to do it without it, if I so have to look around the world to find one. But hopefu Ily I wont have to after the screening of this film, which will hopefully create an increase in the usage of condoms and make people roll around in the hay a little bit safer.
