The transgression of machine into human is one of the major themes in sci-fi. Blade runner (1982), RoboCop (1987),2001: A Space Odessy (1968), Matrix (1999) and even D.A.R.Y.L (1985) all deal with this. Citizen Ghost refers to these classic films but without copying or being in awe of them. On the contrary, this impressive Swedish short builds further, advancing the genre by not dealing with the question of what separates machine from human. Rather, we are to decide for ourselves where to draw the line where computers and machines together breathe life info artificial flesh. Attention to details and rhythm make this beautiful short a hypnotic viewing. CHAMOUN ISSA
