Iranian director/star-actress Niki Karimi plays the part of the graphic designer Shahrzad in this quite and subtle film. Her intense day-to-day life revolves around designing book covers and product packaging, attending classes in school and arguing with her neighbor, who is constantly snatching her parking spot. Despite Shahrzad’s independent life style, she never seems to be in charge. She is overrun by the demands of others and trying to keep her family together. The only time she feels in control is when driving her car up to her favorite spot in the mountains. A Few Days Later… is a sharp observation of a woman who struggles in solitude. By repeating everyday features of Shahrzad’s life, Karimi illustrates how small changes can make walls come tumbling down. With A Few Days Later… Karimi shows that she is just as brilliant a director as an actress.JAKOB ÅSELL
