Catch a Fire

Catch a Fire

av Phillip Noyce

South Africa, early 80’s: Apartheid laws reign, making life a struggle for the black population. Patrick Chamusso, a black foreman at a major oil refinery, wants no part of the anti-Apartheid movement, choosing instead to lead a simple life. But when terrorists attempt to blow up the refinery, Patrick finds himself arrested, wrongly accused, imprisoned and tortured. Finally set free, he returns home a changed man and joins the outlawed African National Congress, volunteering to single-handedly destroy the oil refinery. Based on true events, Catch a Fire tells the story of an ordinary man who wakes up to the political injustices surrounding him, and decides to cross the line and take matters into his own hands. After a string of blockbusters, Phillip Noyce continues his personal journey into socially conscious cinema: following critically acclaimed The Quiet American and Rabbit-Proof Fence, Catch a Fire is another hard-hitting and deeply felt political thriller.
