After being dumped by his girlfriend Suzy, art student Ben develops hopeless insomnia. To pass the long hours of the night he takes a job working the night shift at a local supermarket. There he enters a world of endless boredom. He soon discovers that his co-workers all have their own way of dealing with the monotony of the long shifts. Ben soon develops his own technique, imagining himself stopping time and freezing everyone in the aisles of the store. Through an artistic eye he is then able to reflect on these encounters with the customers – and undress the most beautiful ones - who are completely unconscious of his presence. However, in the process he begins to fall in love with Sharon, the quiet checkout girl. Sean Ellis feature debut, which has been called a UK style Clerks, is an elaboration of his successful short film that was nominated for an Academy Award in 2004. In the role as Ben we see an impressive performance by Sean Biggerstaff who earlier acted the head of the Quidditch team in the Harry Potter movies.EMILIA MELLBERG
