The films main character is the mailman Roy. He is a miserably bad mailman, steered by his curiosity and unrelenting ability to always be at the wrong place at the wrong time. One day, the woman that he has had a secret crush on, leaves her keys on the mail counter. Ray makes a copy of the keys and starts, in secret, to investigate the woman's private life a little closer. He suddenly finds himself involved in a situation far more dangerous than simply reading other peoples letters.
After the success of ”Eating Out”, great expectations were placed on Pål Sletaune, a prospect that he lived up
to in his first major motion picture. Several new actors are also presented in the lead roles. That the film not only appeals to Norwegians, is proven by the fact that it has been sold to over 30 countries. It has, thereby, become the largest Norwegian film success of the nineties.
”Junk Mail” presents a picture of Oslo that lies far from any tourist brochures. It is an unusually funny film, with a mixture of warm human compassion and dark humour.
