Boyz n the Hood

A tragedy-comedy about young people in a black neighbourhood in America - the community in which the film's director was raised. The three heroes are called Tre Styles, Doughboy and Ricky. Their home is the southside of downtown Los Angeles, where gangs rule the roost. The battles for supremacy inevitably lead to bloodshed: watching your friends die is their entertainment_

Boyz n the Hood is a drama about coming of age in black urban America. It's about three friends growing up in a South Central Los Angeles neighborhood where the reality of street life is formed out of friendship, pain, danger and love. One of the main themes is that African-American men have to take more responsibility for raising their children, especially their boys. Fathers have to teach their boys to be men.
