A charged meeting between two women has unsuspected consequences for a number of people involved. Corky is smart, tough and beautiful. Moreover she is on probation after having served a five-year prison sentence for theft. She gets a job as a helper in a fashionable house in Chicago. Violet lives in the house, a shrewd woman with an irresistibly seductive charisma. She lives an empty life together with her boyfriend Ceasar, a small-time gangster who launders money for the Mafia. The two women meet for the first time on the way up in the Iift. They study each other in silence. Contact ensues. Violet is immediately fascinated by Corky and eventually seduces her. They begin a relationship which guides them both onto an irrevocable path. Together they decide to steal two million dollars belonging to the Mafia. The plan appears to be perfect. It is all arranged so that Ceasar gets the blame. But it does not go according to plan. Suddenly they have to be more quick-witted than ever. To survive, the two women have to put their lives in each others hands. But can they trust each other? With rising suspense, this independent-film is told in true film noir-fashion. All the ingredients are there: deep shadows, dirty money, a gang of gangsters and a real femme fatale in Violet, played by Jennifer 1illy with refined and almost diabolical expression. Corky is played by the classically schooled actress Gina Geshron. She plays a masculine and quiet role with a hardened exterior. Both fit their roles perfectly according the norms of the genre, the only difference being that normally Corky's role would be a man. The authors have decided to change this praxis. It gives the film an extra dimension and eliminates obvious expectations. All of the clichés are there, but in a somewhat different version. The director is obviously inspired by filmmakers such as Billy Wilder, Sam Raimi and Roman Polanski. The hardboiled genre's mixture of intense suspense and relieving humour reappears in this story.
