''The first phase is hallucinogenic. . . The second phase is glandular. . . The third phase is. . .'' That is as far as the research chemist Ryan gets in his dictation before he crashes his car and dies. Bizarre tentacles sprouts from his neck. He was on his way to the idyllic suburb of Homesville, where mysterious things soon begin to happen.
The inhabitants start to hallucinate. A mutated family attacks two teenagers. The highly pregnant Cheryl's stomach explodes. The Noble family get an unforgettable holiday on a so called health farm.
On a somewhat remote farm live Dr. Carrera, his ex-companion Pud (played by Mad Max veteran Vince Gil) and his semi-deformed family. Carrera's assistant, Shann, is marketing a new vitamin, which is sold as a pill as well as powder.
The police begin to realize the connection between the newly-created mutants of Homesville and Carrera's futuristic health farm. His latest invention is a new body drug, recently tested in Homesville.
