Kristianna Loken takes on the role of Rayne, half-vampire, in Bloodrayne, an 18th century epic based on the video game-series by the same name. Rayne meets up with vampire hunters Sebastian and Vladimir from the Brimstone Society and together they set out to vanquish the evil vampire lord Kagan before he can fulfil a dreaded doomsday prophecy. But Rayne has her own reasons for wanting to kill Kagan, he is her father and raped her mother during her conception.Bloodrayne is directed by cult-director Uwe Boll who has made a name for himself by adapting video games to the big scream. His earlier films include Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead. For Bloodrayne he as assembled an impressive cast with Loken in the title role, Michael Madsen and Michelle Rodrigues as her vampire killer-buddies, and Ben Kingsley as her evil father. In minor roles indie-uncle Udo Kier, Billy Zane and rock star Meatloaf appears. The lethal Rayn is a living proof that a blood dripping crossbreed occurred between two sub-genres: female revenge and fantasy.ANDERS BÄCKSTRÖM
