Blondes Have More Guns

Blondes Have More Guns

av George Merriweather

A bloody corpse, a green scarf and a mysterious blonde are the only clues to begin with among the increasing number of stiffs in the city of Concord. In this hour of need Hook, the slightly confused chief of police, can think of only one solution: call Harry Bates, the most trigger-happy detective in the police force! The only problem is that Harry can't tell the difference between modern art and a blood-covered wall, as well as his theory that a dead witness is a good witness. Luckily Dick Smoker, his colleague, and a faithful police dog is there to assist him during the desperate hunt for the mad sex-murderer who wreaks havoc with a chainsaw among the male citizens in the city. The only real clue is a wedding invitation and this becomes the major lead for the police to the suspect, a beautiful blond named Montana who is about to be married the same day. She is taken to the station for a preliminary hearing, which turns out to be tough. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence, however the police release Montana and Harry is requested to drive her home. At home she is run over by her husband and ends up in hospital, and this is where Harry runs into Montana's twin sister Dakota. The plot thickens. Since the investigation has reached a standstill, Bates and Smoker are forced to deal with the questions from the huge media crowd, and Harry in the end further complicates the investigation by getting involved in an intense relationship with both Montana and Dakota. Blondes Have More Guns is not only a shameless and violently entertaining rip-off of films such as Basic Instinct (1992), Body of Evidence (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993). It is the basic idea of this film which is literally crawling with senseless, coarse and sick jokes in practically every scene, in the dialogue as well in the visual gags. As an added bonus there is a mad scene where the dialogue is made up by lyrics from a song by the Beatles. There is a wonderfully funny parody of extremely stupid American commercials such as Amazing Discoveries, as well as great trailers. The high pace is kept up throughout the film and the actors treat their deranged characters, to say the least, with humour and a twinkle in their eye. If the police appears incompetent in the Naked Gun films you are forced to redefine the word after having watched the alcoholic Hook and his brave men trying to ' serve the public in Blondes Have More Guns. Lean back in your armchair, sharpen your ears and turn off your brain. The Troma Team have done it again! PL
