Police officer Rick Deckard is a so-called blade runner. His job is to trace and kill replicants, artificial people created as work force for planetary colonies. He wants to retire, but is persuaded to do one last assignment. Five replicants have hijacked a space ship and gone back to planet earth, where it is illegal forthem to be. The hunt for the humanoids slithers through the unending sea of people that is Los Angeles in the year 2019. Decaying districts stand next to new monster buildings; the nights offer heavy rain and the days a faint, smog-filtered light.
