Gemicke often deals with the superficiality of contemporary reality with a tempting surface, left open to the audience to interpret. Best Boy carries this quality, but also something else. The plot is set in a fashionable studio where four people act in relation to each other. But as the film balances between a seducing easiness and underlying tone of absurdity, it is put under argument - who really is the actor and who is the director?
