Bill and Martha live in the countryside of Connecticut together with their newborn child. Their closest neighbour is Martha's now single father, Harry.
One morning, two of Bill's old army buddies, who served with him in Vietnam, turn up for a visit. They haven't seen Bill in several years as they've been serving out a prison sentence for crimes committed during their tour in Vietnam, though they promise that they've put it behind them. Bill now tells his unknowing wife
of his experiences during the war. Bill's suspicions grow when the two men become threatening, but he doesn't dare go to the police.
Harry comes by to visit his daughter. Over dinner the two men tell their version of what happened in Vietnam. They gain Harry's trust, who says he always thought Bill was a bit spineless. When Martha's father returns to his house later that evening, Tony and Mike's lust for revenge explodes, directing itself against Bill and his family.
