Baise-moi, one of this year's most controversial French films, is a violent feministic road movie about the prize of submission. An inexplicable gang rape forces two young but already marked women, into a reckless odyssey that makes Thelma & Louise turn pale. Without intellectualising explanations they shoot and fuck their way in rage so that they may convert the degradation into power. Baise-moi attracted a lot of attention at the Cannes Film Festival. Due to its explicit sex scenes an organisation closely connected to the right-extremist party Front National went to the supreme court. In result the film was banned only five days later its French premiere. The decision of censorship was met with demonstrations outside the Parisian theatres siding for the film. ''You have the right to be radical and furious, it's all about the freedom of speech,'' Virginie Despentes stated in Le Monde.
