War-plagued Algeria in the 90’s. Emergency room doctor Amel returns to her home to find her journalist husband Mourad missing. It turns out he has been abducted by fundamentalists due to his controversial articles. When the local police is incapable of helping Amel, she decides to take matters into her own hands. In the company of Khadidja, an energetic nurse in her sixties, she sets off on a dangerous hunt for her beloved husband. In a country where women do not belong on the roads, and in a time when the gap between the people and the authorities is huge, the two women raise their voices saying “Enough!”. The delightful music and beautiful scenery are in contrast with the violence and oppression they meet on their journey through the men’s world. Director Djamila Sahraoui treats her native country with both love and contempt in this homage to all strong and courageous women in Algeria. JAKOB ÅSELL
