Assassin(s)

Assassin(s)

av Mathieu Kassovitz

Wagner is a specialist. He has been a professional hit man for over 40 years. Even a contract killer has ethics, and he feels a great amount of professional pride. When he meets the 25 year-old, unemployed Max, he feels that he has found someone who can take over the trade. Wagner takes him on and teaches him the trade, but he is careful about the professionalism connected with the work. But times have changed, and so have ethics.
Mathieu Kassovitz is one of today's most exciting directors, and has attracted attention also as a screenwriter and an actor. Common to all his films is his treatment of relationships between people who in one way or the other live on the edge of society. ”Café au Lait” is a humorous portrayal of a mulatto woman who is torn between a black and a Jewish man. In ”La Haine” he brings up the conflict between second generation immigrants and French society. In ”Assassin(s)” he deals with the honour code and ethics of the underworld.
